What You See is What You Get

Our reality is constructed of various perceptions we subconsciously choose to engage with. But how accurate is our reality if based on something exceedingly subjective?
Maybe it’s idealistic/nihilistic of me, but I truly believe that reality doesn’t truly exist, rather illusioned and created by one’s own volition.
I’ve spoken on this in further detail before, which you can find here, but we are not one with a single persona. We are influenced greatly by our present environments (that often change) and even the most menial details within. Though, the mind tends to think in a way of adjectives to make a simpler sense of the chaotic world. For example, we don’t say, “This is my friend, Bill, he’s shy when you first meet him, but if you ever saw him at a dinner party, he can be a pretty wild one!” Instead, we often say, “This is my friend, Bill, he’s shy.”
Though we know that there are different aspects to an individual, we often narrow in on one aspect and deem the individual as it as a whole. This is our reducing valve at work. It depicts the qualities of a person that is most salient and deems them as such to avoid conflict in the mind. It’s difficult to wrap one’s mind around someone being both shy and wild at heart.
