summer romance
‘24
Most of my body remain submerged within a cool body of water —
the intimacy of the first swim of summer
As I rest my wrist and forearms gently upon a warm deck, pen to paper,
the shadow of a palm tree above dances wildly to Lana Del Ray (California) and to a soft breeze that is solace symphony
Sylvia Plath awaits me on the opposing side
and I begin to find myself somewhere between melancholy and contentment
With every spark of magic before me
I’m beginning to remember the sweetness of nostalgia I’ve had for this very moment during the harsh winter —
I’ve rinsed my honey blond hair beneath the rock waterfall,
subtly, it takes me breath away
only in the best way:
as a tender anticipation for a gentle exhale
The sun is making love to my shoulders
and the bees to a plethora of blossomed zinnias —
and I’m beginning to believe that summer is a moment
a season
for youth and innocence to come alive once again
A submergence amidst serene waters,
allowing it to carry you where harmony lives entirely.
