I’m Falling in Love
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want my travel experience to be exactly like Julia Roberts’ in Eat, Pray, Love.
In my imagined version, though, the only difference is that I fall in love with a Cillian Murphy lookalike in Ireland.
As reality would have it, currently, I have already completed the checklist of eating, praying, and loving.
I tried to be as open-minded as I could when beginning this journey of mine. I knew that if I planned something grand and grew an unshakable amount of hope for it, I’d be let down.
My goal soon became to exist, simply.
Though, I can’t deny that there was a menial part of me hoping I’d find love. Thanks a lot, Columbia Pictures.
Over the past few days, though, I have found love…with the city, the world, people in general, and most importantly, myself.
Existing in a City, Far North of the Familiar
Book in hand
The chaos of the surrounding city rises,
Beautifully,
The streets blare
Filled of cars, bikes, walkers, and dreamers;
As nightfall begins to fall
The city beams of enlightenment
As if occupying the Milky Way —
I find the beauty of pure derangement
Of the world,
People
And the world within those people;
I find myself,
No different than they,
Content to exist in the heart of this madness
