Ego vs. Humility

You will never be in control of your life until you balance out the ego.

By the age of roughly seven years, one is able to distinguish themselves from others; this is where self-importance begins, where one places themselves on a ladder filling in the gaps with various others. This can be anywhere from placing a majority of others above or below you. This is knowns as the Vertical Way of Living. Overtime, our experiences, what we expose ourselves to, and countless other encounters create an impact on this perception of our self-importance.

At a certain age later on in our lives, we find ourselves deemed to a certain point on this ladder where the upper half represents us in a state of superiority and the bottom half, inferiority.

When one finds themselves leisured along the top half of the ladder, they will do any and everything to keep their position even to the extent of hurting others. Superiority stems from the fear of inferior sentiments, such as stupidity, embarrassment, and various other raw emotion. To them, these emotions are where they feel most insecure and vulnerable when encountered.

As one may find themselves along the bottom half of the ladder, they have placed a majority, if not, all, above themselves. They have placed all else’s needs, wants, and desires before theirs creating a smaller self as time proceeds. Those with…
