Creating an Environment for Success
“Visual cues are the greatest catalyst of our behavior.” — James Clear
Out of the eleven million receptors in the human body, ten million of them are dedicated to our sight; saying that we are highly sensitive to our environment may possibly be an understatement. Every second that our eyes are open, they are capturing everything in possible sight, whether seen clearly or not, or even if noticed or not, then is passed down to the subconscious. Soon, all that is soaked in is calculated and handed over as influence towards our behaviors in that specific environment. Maintaining a specific identity/character in a world of various environments is far out of our control.
There are times in our lives where we must play with the cards we are dealt with, where we can’t entirely change our environment. Well, maybe not physically, but it all begins in the utilization of your surroundings.
Let’s take our bedrooms for example: to one, it may be merely a place to sleep, to another, a place to read, then sleep, and another, a place to binge watch social media videos until their thumbs gets sore. Without our realization, our subconscious takes this behavior into account and associates the item to match it. To one, this bed means reading and sleep, to the other, it means mindless scrolling and maybe get some sleep tonight?
